These amazing remnants of previous inhabitants. I had to take a bunch of pictures. It was like unearthing pieces of other people's lives. I wondered if my grandparents had chosen any of the them (the pink perhaps?). My dad couldn't remember even though he had grown up in that apartment. I sure would have chosen any of those over the dentist's office stuff.

Sparky's, a burger joint, opened up recently down the street from where I work. I was pretty psyched to see that they have meat from local farms that's organic to boot, so Wayne and I went there yesterday for lunch. The verdict?
Sometimes organic isn't better.
At least in this case. We ordered the burgers medium rare, but they came out more like medium well. Sometimes medium well burgers can be tasty, but the texture of this burger left something to be desired. Overly chewy, and the flavor was, well, rather flat. The bun was nothing to write home about, in fact I can't even remember if it was toasted. The fries were too mushy, and the ketchup and mustard didn't seem so special (they go on about how they make the ketchup and mustard themselves - it seemed like heinz to me). And most irritatingly of all, we were out almost $20 when it was all said and done, and we shared one order of fries! On the whole, very disappointing.
I want to go to the Shake Shack...you can't get burgers done to order, but they sure are a damn sight tastier than Sparky's. And they are open again!! Woohoo! Better go before the line goes out to Queens.
And the Burger Joint...in the hotel....I pine for your fake woodpaneling and bad florescent lighting and AWESOME burgers...
OK, this is a public service announcement. Neko Case is on tour and she is coming to New York NEXT WEEK. so RUN and get your tickets. Because I missed her the last time she came around and played at Joe's Pub and damn did I regret it. So yes I bought two tickets for the April 7th show at Webster Hall.
She is an amazing singer and songwriter, her new album (Fox Confessor Brings the Flood) rocks, her new site rocks, she just all around rocks. (OK, well maybe you would categorize her more as alt-country, but still.)
Hopefully I will remember to post a report about the show.
