die spammers die!

Our blogs got hit with an incredible amount of comment spam over the past 24 hours. We literally had hundreds of annoying comments promoting porn sites.

ARGH!!

So i finally installed MT-blacklist, and it worked like a charm. Poof, all the spam has been removed from MT and I have a way to keep spammers out for good. I REALLY REALLY recommend to everyone who uses MT to install it and to keep spam off your blog. Plus it's super-easy to install, the documentation is easy to follow.

If you want a copy of my blacklist to use, click here - copy and paste into MT-blacklist.

you see Harvey Keitel casually walking down the street with his wife.

Weird.

And that you accidentally find the restaurant that was featured in a documentary that you saw a few months ago that you've been wanting to try.

Prince is the man

I saw Prince on Sunday.

It was a semi-miracle, considering that I decided long ago that I would never buy tickets to see shows at arenas because the acoustics are so bad and it's just too damned expensive. Well, a few days before the show, my mother calls me up and tells me that my sister's boyfriend's mother has tickets for $10! I thought to myself, that's basically free, right? There must be something sketchy going on or it wouldn't be $10. But they were.

So I took the tickets. And went to the show. Prince was AMAZING. Granted, the acoustics sucked (it WAS an arena after all), but that man is one of the best entertainers around. He can dance, he can sing, he can wail on the guitar, and damn does he look sexy doing it. He's practically 50 but sure isn't showing it. His falsetto turns women into a puddle on the ground. How many guys do you know can do that?

My first gallery show is coming up! It's called Silhouettes, and it's a collaboration with my friend and musician, Mandy Wong. It'll be at the Zeitgeist Gallery in Cambridge from August 3rd through the 8th.

For more information, check out the mini-site.

I'm so excited, please come and take a look!

maps

I've been thinking about how I'm totally having to reconstruct my mental map of the layout of the city. Or rather, start all over again. I've been feeling rather disoriented now that I don't know where anything is. But it's not just the layout, it's also the rest of the information that goes along with that mental map. Like "where is the best place to get mangoes" or "where can i get a decent bottle of wine" or "which branch of my local bank has the nice teller"? It's really exciting to have so many new options and so much to explore.

But sometimes I just need to get a toothbrush and I wish I knew exactly where to go. (still haven't figured out where the pharmacies are in my neighborhood yet...)

I've also been thinking about how I knew a million different alternate routes to get around in Boston, all the little shortcuts, etc. Now I've got to figure out that whole thing again, with an even larger geographical area to cover. Sheesh! Five years of knowledge down the drain. Sort of. It'll just have to be a few months of stumbling around and consulting five maps before I can make those connections again.
